Young Authors to be honored
The 24th Annual Write Your Own Book Competition was a big success. This year there were 126 entries from 12 schools and home schools. Winners will be honored this Saturday March 9th at 2 p.m. Kelsey Miller, author of Retribution will speak at the reception.
Blue ribbon books will be bound and added to the library’s collection. Certificates and blue ribbons will be awarded to the following winners: grades 7-8 Brianna Kemp “The Changes”; grades 5-6 Hannah C. Tavani “Scrat the Squirrel” grades 3-4 David Joseph Smith “Saving George” ; and grades 1-2 Molly Pifer “Tigger my crazy kitten.”
The red ribbon winners are grades 7-8 Katie Phykitt “Life is more fun when you rhyme” ; 5-6 Sophie Williams “Sheeataka” ; 3-4 Alexis Driscoll “The Lochness Monster in our swimming pool” ; 1-2 Maya Moody “The Evil Witch and the three good friends.”
There are also eight honorable mentions. Vicky Yang, Adam Gorsline, Emma Repsher, Kevin Wilcox, Kolby John Hoffman, Enzo Ottaviani, Blaine Warburton and Natalie Williams. They will receive a certificate.
All the children who wrote a book can pick up their book at the library starting Monday March 11th, at 8 AM. Thank you to everyone who participated this year!
